The history of Delhi Public School is the story of a dream taking shape - the dream of its founders to provide quality education to the many who cross its portals. The society's untiring and consistent efforts, 'in pursuit of excellence' and its commitment to the motto 'Service Before Self' , have culminated in the galaxy of D.P.S schools that we have today. The first school was set up by the society in 1949.Thereafter school after school blossomed and today we are the proud members of a family of 91 schools in different parts of the country and 6 schools abroad in Nepal, Indonesia, Kuwait , Sharjah, Doha & Dubai. These 'temples of learning ' leave indelible impressions in the hearts of thousands of its alumni who have contributed immensely and magnificently to the growth and development of our nation. D.P.S.Society has been able to accomplish the Herculean task of mobilizing and executing action at the global, national and community levels due to the dynamism of its pioneers. Today more than five decades since its inception, this organisation stands like a Colossus in the field of education, ranking among the most prestigious of Institutions in the country

It came into existence in the year 1991 in answer to the efforts taken by Visakhapatnam Steel Plant to provide the children of its employees the best educational opportunities from a premier institution in the country . From its inception D.P.S., Visakhapatnam has been an ever ascending entity , providing holistic education to its students and helping them tO bring their talent to the fore.
The School has classes from I to XII Comprising the Primary, Middle and Higher Sections and with a total strength of 2000 studentsAffiliated to the C.B.S.E.; the school remains committed to its "Pursuit of Excellence" as evident in its record high performance at the AISSE Board Examinations
